There are moments in your life where you come across new ways of doing things and need to decide whether to embrace it or not. I was lucky enough to be in the printing industry during the days of film, and be part of the transition to digital. Naming conventions of the newer technology made perfect sense as I was part of that history.

I am now around the age where many of the workers depicted in this film are. Reviewing the film, you see how so many things changed. You see pipe smoking, mostly men working hard with dangerous machinery. During the time of this movie, they were given a choice, whether to embrace technology or get out of a career they have devoted their whole lives to, and spent years mastering techniques that can only be obtained through years of experience. Some have lost limbs and others lost their hearing. There have been many steps to improve the workplace over the years, but did we improve on our camaraderie as a team or respecting those that have paved the way for new technology?
